How to bet on the PSL

The Premier Soccer League runs the competitions people still search for as PSL betting. In 2026/27 the top division is the Betway Premiership, with 16 clubs.

PSL betting, in the way people search for it, means betting on South African club soccer run by the Premier Soccer League. The league body runs more than one competition. The one that carries the title sponsor’s name in 2026/27 is the Betway Premiership. The PSL’s own season launch described it as a 16-club league and as Betway’s third season as title sponsor.

This page does not name a winner or a score. It explains the markets and the local conditions that belong in a reading of a fixture.

Find the right competition

A weekend coupon can include the Betway Premiership, the National First Division, a cup tie and reserve or youth matches. The prices are not interchangeable. Check the competition name and the kick-off, not only the club names. Clubs can have similar names across divisions.

Cup matches can go to extra time. A match-result market that says “90 minutes” is judged on normal time, and a draw is a possible result. A market that says “to qualify” includes whatever the rules of that tie use after 90 minutes. Read that line. It is the whole bet.

Match result, or 1X2

The standard market is home win, draw or away win.

• 1 is the side named first, usually the home side.
• X is the draw.
• 2 is the away side.

The draw is why soccer prices often look shorter than a two-horse race. You are choosing one of three outcomes. If you want to remove the draw, look at draw no bet or double chance, which are explained on the bet types page. They pay less because they lose less often.

Handicaps and totals

A handicap is for matches where one side is a clear price favourite. A -1.5 line means that favourite must win by two clear goals. A one-goal win loses the -1.5 bet even though the team won the match. Confirm the line before you confirm the stake.

Totals are bets on the number of goals. Over 2.5 wins on three or more goals in the match. Under 2.5 wins on nil, one or two. Both teams to score is different again: both sides must score, whatever the winner.

What is actually different about a South African fixture

Read the teamsheet and the travel, then decide if you know enough to have a bet.

Johannesburg sits at high altitude. A coastal side playing there is playing in thinner air than at home. That is a physical fact about the venue. It is not a number you can turn into a guaranteed edge, and this site will not invent one. Treat it as a reason to look at the venue, the same way you would look at a midweek trip between Durban and Cape Town.

Also check whether the match is a midweek league game after a cup tie, whether key players are suspended, and whether the kick-off time on the coupon matches the official fixture. How to place the bet without mixing markets

1. Open the match and read the competition name.
2. Choose one market. Do not assume the default tab is match result.
3. Check the odds format. If you are using the sign-up credit, the minimum in Hollywoodbets’ terms is 5/10 (0.5 decimal), which is 1.50 in European decimals. The odds page explains that conversion.
4. Enter the stake you decided before you saw the price.
5. Read the slip back. Team, market, line, price, stake.

Hollywoodbets’ App Store description says live in-play betting and cash out on soccer multiples are part of the app. In-play prices move quickly. If you cannot watch the match, you are betting on a picture you do not have. That is a reason to stay on pre-match markets until you are comfortable.
