Hollywoodbets FICA verification
FICA is the Financial Intelligence Centre Act. Hollywoodbets requires an approved identity document before it will process your first withdrawal.
FICA is the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, Act 38 of 2001, as Hollywoodbets cites it in the sign-up terms. Bookmakers use it to confirm who owns an account before money is paid out. It is an identity check, not a tax form you complete for SportsPunt, and SportsPunt never sees the documents.
What Hollywoodbets says you must provide
The sign-up terms say the account holder must submit FICA documents, be FICA compliant, and have those documents approved before the first withdrawal can be requested or approved. The same clause says “FICA documentation” here means a valid South African identity document or a valid foreign passport.
Hollywoodbets’ FICA article adds practical points that are still on that page:
- The copy must be clear. The information and the photograph have to be visible.
- Send a colour copy or a clear photograph.
- A Smart ID card needs both the front and the back.
- A driver’s licence is accepted only as a supporting document when the customer has a temporary ID, or when the ID is damaged. It is not described as a replacement for the ID or passport.
The article also says the ID number entered at registration is checked with a verification tool, and that Hollywoodbets can ask for the documents if that tool does not recognise the registration.
Where to send them
The route confirmed as a live form is Hollywoodbets’ FICA self-service site. It says you can upload from a phone by taking a picture, or from a computer by choosing a file. You enter an ID number, a Hollywoodbets account number, or a cellphone number, then continue. The page asks that scans and photographs are clear enough to read, and it gives the helpline 087 353 7634 if you need help.
The same FICA article, which is dated February 2022 and is still published, also lists two other routes: a private message to the Hollywoodbets Facebook page, and a visit to a Hollywoodbets branch. Hollywoodbets’ sports site says it has more than 90 retail outlets in seven of South Africa’s nine provinces. Use the self-service form if you want the route that was open as a webpage on 16 October 2026. The helpline can confirm whether a branch visit is still the right option for your account.
The sign-up terms say you can also contact the FICA team on 087 353 7634 or by email at HWHelpline@hollywoodbets.net. That is a Hollywoodbets address, not a SportsPunt address.
What you can do before approval
The terms are explicit. You can take part in the sign-up offer before the documents are submitted. You cannot take the first withdrawal until they are approved. If you are inside the 24-hour window on the R25, you can place the qualifying bet while the documents are in review. You should not expect a payout the same hour if the review is still open.
Upload a picture in which the whole card is in frame, the corners are visible, and the flash has not wiped out the text. A dark photo is the usual reason a submission is rejected, and a rejection costs you a day you may not have planned for.
Names that do not match
The document and the registration have to describe the same person. If the account was opened with a shortened name or a wrong digit in the ID number, fix that with Hollywoodbets before you ask for a withdrawal. SportsPunt cannot see your account and cannot approve FICA. The registration page covers the details the form asked for at sign-up.
